KIM SCHOFFSTALL: Biography

Kim Schoffstall

Kim Schoffstall is a Christian Singer/Songwriter – Worship Leader who pulls her inspiration from growing up in a house where she heard everything from Chet Atkins and Doc Watson, to Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac. Kim has wide spectrum of taste/style when it comes to music, and her writing mirrors her love for the elements of a well crafted song.

With the basic philosophy God is good, and he has already given us all that we need, Kim continues to write from her own experiences and the world around her. Kim has written numerous faith- based contemporary songs, she also has songs she's written for liturgical settings. Recently she has begun to take the texts of hymns she knows and loves and write them to contemporary settings. As well as, write new text to beautiful Irish/Appalachian type folk hymn melodies.

She is currently serving on the board of Songwriter's Association of Washington (SAW) based in and around the Northern Virginia area. Through SAW she has been involved in monthly Song Circles and Song Exchanges, Coffeehouses, New Song Festival, Paul Reisler's Song Camp in the Mountains, Swannanoa Gathering in Asheville, N.C.; Cedar Run Songs in Madison, VA; and SAW Showcases where members are encouraged to perform their original music.

Kim is a graduate from Mary Washington College with a degree in Music Studies. She has several private students as well for guitar.
